South Okanagan CALP - Community Adult Literacy Program

The South Okanagan Community Adult Literacy Program (CALP) supports adult learners in Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, and Osoyoos who want to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

CALPs offer free, non-credit learning opportunities to help adults build essential skills for work, daily life, or to prepare for further education through school districts or public post-secondary institutions.

Our program provides one-to-one tutoring with trained volunteer tutors. Together, learners and tutors focus on:

  • Reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Basic math (numeracy)
  • Personal goals related to employment, daily living, or further study

We welcome adult learners who speak English as a first or second language. Whether you're starting with the basics or looking to build confidence in specific areas, the South Okanagan CALP offers a supportive, welcoming environment tailored to your needs.

Interested in Volunteering?

Are you passionate about literacy and helping others succeed? We’re always looking for volunteer tutors to support adult learners in our communities.

As a volunteer, you’ll receive training and ongoing support, and the chance to make a real difference in someone’s life. No teaching experience is necessary—just patience, commitment, and a desire to help others reach their goals.

Get in touch to learn more about becoming a tutor or to find out how you can support the program.
